“A Gesture and a Word – A Songwriter’s Journey Toward the Great Whatever” addresses the question – What would you do if you had less than 2 years to live? When singer / songwriter Rob Morsberger was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, the answer was to fly into the most creative period in his life – performing, recording and collaborating with his friends and admire Rob’s inspiring final months were the living embodiment of the saying, “Ars Longa – Vita Breva” (Art is long – Life is Short). The film features appearances and performances by Suzzy Roach, Brad Roberts (Crash Test Dummies), Marshall Crenshaw and Jon Herrington (Steely Dan) and Grammy Award-winning producer, Stewart Lerman.
After its premiere at The Jacob Burns Film Center with a live performance by Marshall Crenshaw, “Gesture” had a successful festival run at The Ashland Independent Film Festival, The Macon Film Festival and The Richmond International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature Film.
